Mitch Grossman
Mitch Grossman is the Vice President of Operations for Goodwill Industries of the Southern Rivers (GoodwillSR). Mitch joined the organization in September of 2010, following a successful career in retail sales and operations management. His formal education consists of a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Augusta State University.
Historically, Mitch has been a vital employee for many national companies. Before coming to GoodwillSR, he was the Regional Sales Manager at Claire’s specialty stores and also worked as the Director of new store development at Charming Charlie’s. He also held the position of Regional Director of stores at KB toys, Hallmark Cards and Ultra Diamonds and Gold. Over his 30 year career, Grossman has gained vast experience in all areas of retail, from leadership development to marketing products, with revenues in excess of $650 million, in diverse regions of the country from Maine to Puerto Rico.
Today, Mitch’s responsibilities as Vice President of Operations are leading and developing people for the best possible returns in Donated Goods and Contract Services revenue.
Under his leadership, the organization opened three new retail locations and relocated two retail stores in one year. The total number of GoodwillSR retail stores now stands at 12. Mitch also oversees the new donation model concept in which the organization began replacing free standing donation boxes with attended donation centers, (ADC’s) where donors are now offered a more convenient “drive up and drop off” donation experience. There are currently 21 ADC’s located throughout GoodwillSR’s 50-county territory.
In addition, Grossman oversees PowerWorks Industries (PWI), a contract services affiliate of GoodwillSR, provides grounds maintenance and custodial services for two Georgia military installations in Fort Benning and Albany, Ga. He holds the position of Leadership & Management Support for Employment for People with Significant Disabilities. Grossman is a board member for Literacy Alliance in Columbus, is a graduate of Leadership Columbus, is on the board of the Chattahoochee Valley Episcopal Ministry and mentors at the Boxwood Recreation Center’s youth soccer outreach program. He is also a member of the Uptown Rotary Club and Diversity Professionals.
Mitch has won several top sales awards with his previous employers, has been awarded the AbilityOne Program Achievement Award for Americans with Significant Disabilities and is instrumental in improving the quality work environment for those with disabilities.
Grossman resides in Columbus, Ga and has three daughters. He enjoys traveling, sports, reading, spending time with his family and volunteering in the community.
